Toasted sliced bread. A great dish for pregnant women.
Description
Toast is a form of bread that has been browned by toasting, that is, exposure to radiant heat. The browning is the result of a Maillard reaction, altering the flavor of the bread and making it firmer so that it is easier to spread toppings on it. Toasting is a common method of making stale bread more palatable. Crostini Italian for “little toasts” are simply small slices of toasted or grilled bread, usually made with baguette or ciabatta, that make a perfect base for dips, spreads, cheeses, vegetables, or pâtés.
A study published in European Journal of Clinical Nutrition in May 2018, found that toasted bread has a lower glycemic index. Toasting bread also lowers the amount of fat in a toast. Though the fat in the bread will not be lowered significantly, it will definitely make a difference if you eat bread every day.
